and the Plant Fagopyrum Esculentum (Buckwheat)

Abstract
The author recalls his days, when he worked at CCRAS Unit at Lucknow and then again joined CIMAP. How the
Society of Ethnobotanist was formed at Lucknow. Fagopyrum esculentum, buckwheat a staple food in the
Himalayan region, used during fasting days of Navratri and Shivaratri in North Indian states is described with its
historical account, its utility as a nutrional food, its botany, distribution, chemistry, pharmacology and medicinal
uses. Its uptakes helps in regulating the blood pressureCorresponding Author :
