Abstract

In this article the efforts taken to cultivate medicinal plants by the author mainly; Atropa belladonna and A. acuminate, Hyoscyamus niger at Govt. Gardens Chaubattia (Ranikhet) now in Uttrakhand. The history of the plants, botany, distribution, the chemical constituents, the alkaloid percentage, regional names, history of introduction and cultivation in India and in Uttarakhand are briefly dealt with.
