Phytochemical characterization of
Solanum torvum

Abstract

The aqueous and organic extracts of Solanum torvum dry leaves , dry and fresh fruits were screened for various phytochemicals. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of secondary metabolites like alkaloids- indole alkaloids, phenols, flavanoids, sterol, saponin glycoside, reducing sugars, cardio active aglycons and cardinolides in all the extracts. Phytochemical evaluation plays an important role in the standardization of crude herbal drugs.
