Abstract
Antimicrobial activity of aqueous, ethanol and acetone extracts of leaves of Biophytum sensitivum Linn (BS)
were tested on clinical isolates of urinary pathogens viz., Escherichia Coli, Klebsiella and Proteus and by well
diffusion method. Ethanolic and acetone extracts showed greater inhibitory action than the aqueous ones. The
effect of these plants may delay the development of urinary disease. In this present study, focuses mainly on
urinary pathogens, plants used as anti-microbial in various traditional medicines, constituents isolated from
these plants various mechanisms through which herbs act against urinary pathogens.
