Abstract

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the hypolipidemic efficacy of aqueous extract extract of the aerial part of Petroselinum crispum (Parsely) in cholesterol fed rats. Rats were randomly assigned to four groups: Groups I normal control; Group II triton treated and Group III, triton + Petroselinum crispum (Parsely extract (250 mg / kg b. wt. / day) orally. Administration of cholesterol caused a significant rise (p<0.001) in the serum levels of cholesterol, LDL, VLDL and triglyceride administration of Petroselinum crispum (Parsely) extract significantly (p<0.001) prevented the rise in serum cholesterol, LDL, VLDL, triglycerides. The extract of petroselinum cripsum has shown significantly (p<0.001) antioxidant activity due to the presence of various phyto constituents such as tannins, flavonoids and phenolic compounds. Thus the results indicate antioxidant and hypolipidemic and effect of Aqueous extract of Petroselinum crispum (Parsley).
